the 28th Grassroots Summit

September 20-23, 2018

What is the Grassroots Summit?

The Japan America Grassroots Summit is an annual large-scale exchange of Japanese and American people, held alternatively in Japan and America. The Summit aims to strengthen the peaceful relationship between our two countries by fostering friendship at the grassroots level. More information here.

Local Sessions

After opening the Summit in Seattle, participants leave for their home stay town and stay with their host family for four days and three nights.  During the home stay days, the local town leaders and host families work together to share the best that their community has to offer. Learn more about Local Sessions here.

Apply to be a host family in your nearest local session. Find out more about what it means to be a Grassroots Summit host family here.

Closing Ceremony

All Host Families will receive two complimentary tickets to the Grassroots Summit Closing Ceremony on September 23, 2018 at the new Hyatt Regency Lake Washington in Renton. More on the Closing Ceremony here.
