Puyallup Fairgrounds “Remembrance Gallery” of Japanese American Detention, Community Opening Preview

The Puyallup Fairgrounds were the temporary detention place for Japanese Americans from Seattle and rural areas near Tacoma during April – September 1942. At long last, a permanent “Remembrance Gallery” exhibit has been made onsite to share this dark chapter of local history with the broader public.

Please join the Japan-America Society and other nonprofit community groups in previewing the exhibit on Saturday, August 17, before the opening of the Puyallup Fair (Aug 30 – Sep 22). While the exhibit is open all day (10 AM – 5 PM), JASSW members will gather to view the exhibit at 1 PM (timed entry).

• Free parking in the Gold parking lot (at NE corner of fairgrounds)
• Enter fairgrounds through the Gold gate.
• From just inside the gate, exhibit volunteers will guide us to the Expo Hall.
