in the United States Foreign Service

The World Speaker Forum presents Mr. Robert S. Luke, former Minister-Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo. Mr. Luke will discuss the challenges of living and working as a U.S. diplomat, with examples from his own career, including dealing with the aftermath of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and nuclear accident and managing economic relations with China. The program will be moderated by Mr. Dale Watanabe, Executive Director, the Japan-America Society of the State of Washington (JASSW).
